III. JOSEPH JAMES KELLY

Was born February 11, 1900 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. On June 23, 1925, at Waterloo, Iowa, he married, Edith Mary Livingston the daughter of Archibald and Helma Sophia (Stankey) Livingston. Edith was born August 30, 1903 in Monticello, Iowa, and died January 10, 1984, at Palo Alto Hospital in Emmetsburg. Besides raising her own family, Edith worked outside the home for several years helping care for other family children's.

Joe's mother died when he was only six months old. He was raised by his Aunt Alice Walsh, and they raised him as one of their own. Joe did different job's throughout his life but was primarily a painter. Joe liked to fish and was a good gardener. Joseph died in Emmetsburg on December 26, 1988, he along with Edith is buried at St. John's Cemetery there.

They became the parents of 13 children, a girl, James, Donald, David, John, Florence, Kathryn, Raymond, Patrick, Mary, Jane, Jean and Joseph.
